Ann Echols is retired and works with many nonprofits in Centre County, PA. She earned her doctorate in Strategic Management from the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech in 2000, her EdD in 1994 (Virginia Tech), her MBA in Accounting Finance in 1992 (Florida Atlantic University), and her BBA in Accounting in 1986 Texas A&M University College Station.


Ann began teaching business strategy during graduate school in 1994, and has taught strategic management to senior undergraduates as a capstone course over 50 times.  From 2000-2005 Ann taught Strategic Management at PSU’s Smeal College of Business, while also doing research in the field. 


She then taught Strategic management at Bucknell University as a visiting professor for 2 years, taught both undergraduate and graduate business courses for PSU’s College of Health and Human Development (HPA) and School of Labor and Employment Relations, and also taught online MBA strategy courses for PSU (Erie) and Ohio University. She ended her academic career teaching various business courses at Juniata College for 5 years. She designed an online master's course for Juniata College in Non-Profit Leadership.


Since 2017, Ann has taken on a full-time schedule as a volunteer in Centre County.  She currently serves as board president for Mid-State Literacy Council, and as treasurer for AAUW, and has been on several other boards in the community. Ann also helps at Leadership Centre County. Ann has set up Volunteer Centre County, which is scheduled to launch in March 2021. Ann has served as treasurer for over 6 non-profits in her career.


Ann is currently part of a research team studying non-profit leadership at PSU with faculty in the extension program, and she recently completed a 40-hour course in January with distinction in Philanthropic Psychology.


Ann is an avid supporter of Carline Crevecoeur for SCASD Director and is honored to serve as treasurer for the Friend for Carline Crevecoeur.
